Stóri Karl rock column - Viewing platform

At Skoruvík cliffs on Langanes peninsula there is a unique viewing platform where you overlook the rock column Stóri Karl, one of Iceland's largest gannet colonies. You can also see more seabirds like the razorbill, the common guillemot and puffins up close. In the months of may and june you can maybe see egg-gatherers at work there. The viewing platform was ready in 2014 and got the name Járnkarlinn which could roughly be translated to Iron Man. In spite of it's very sturdy construction maybe it's not for those who are extremely scared of heights. From Þórshöfn it takes about 45 minutes to drive to the viewing platform.
