Rauðanes peninsula

Rauðanes peninsula in Þistilfjörður is one example of Iceland's exceptional natural beauty. It is located 30 km west of Þórshöfn and the peninsula reaches 4 km north-east from the ring road. There is a marked circular hiking trail which is about 7 km long and mostly flat. Take your time, bring water along and don't go too close to the edge. What makes Rauðanes so special are the amazing and strange rock formations in and by the ocean on the way. There are a lot of birds you can see around the peninsula, for example puffins.
